Welcome to the Alberni Valley

ADVENTURE FOUND HERE, YEAR AROUND!

This Vancouver Island destination has much to offer. Home of the Tseshaht and Hupacasath First Nations, carved by glaciers and sheltered by mountains, the Alberni Valley is a brilliant ecosystem, protected by a group of communities working together and enjoying this amazing space. Find activities in the Alberni Valley for every pace, from sun-soaked beaches and forest trails to scenic waterfalls and mountain lookouts. Explore our favourite hiking trails on foot, or hit the mountain biking trails for a more adrenaline-filled ride. Paddlers and swimmers can enjoy a variety of water sports across the valley’s lakes, rivers, and coastline, while camping under the summer sky rounds out the outdoor experience.

For those craving lake life, spend the day at Sproat Lake — swim, water-ski, paddle, or settle in with a line in the water for some of the valley’s best fishing. Out on the ocean, anglers and boaters alike will find plenty to keep them busy, from saltwater fishing charters to scenic cruises along the coast. Summer evenings come alive with live music and community gatherings, while sporting events and tournaments draw crowds throughout the season. Catch the energy at the Farmer’s Markets, or dive into local history at the Maritime Discovery Centre, Maclean Mill, or the Alberni Valley Museum. After a day outdoors, unwind with great local dining and community entertainment. Planning a visit this summer?
